Micro exhibition, MOTAT Auckland
To mark the 2015 flag referendum, MOTAT took loan of a unique flag created by Hone Heke, the first Maori chief to sign the Treaty of Waitangi.
The flag, known as Tematarahurahu could be said to be the beginning of New Zealand’s long running flag debate.
Art of Fact were invited to create a micro exhibition in just two weeks, to last just ten days.
The design was drawn from the images of the signing of the Treaty. The micro exhibition helped connect visitors to the significance of flags in general, and their meaning in Aotearoa New Zealand.
